hend police arrest6 300HENDERSON, Ky. (5/16/13) – This week, Henderson Police reported the following investigations and auto accidents:

A Henderson woman was charged with driving without a license, first degree trafficking, and leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly driving away from the scene of an accident in the 100 block of Mill Street on May 1. According to Henderson Police, Stephanie Reeder, 30, allegedly struck a parked vehicle just before 7:45 p.m. the night of May 1. Authorities said Reeder “abandoned her purse while attempting” to avoid police. The purse was recovered, and authorities claimed it contained a variety of drug-related items including an electronic scale and syringes.

On May 16, Henderson Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 1400 block of Woodland Drive. According to authorities, a Henderson man contacted them at 2 a.m. on May 16 to report the theft. The car, a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, was recovered about 30 minutes later. On May 9 at 8 p.m., Henderson Police responded to a report of possible drug activity in the 200 block of 9th St. Authorities allegedly discovered Richard Smith, 49, Henderson hiding in the attic at the residence. Authorities said he was allegedly attempting to conceal “several types of drugs” at the time. He was arrested on charges of violating a Kentucky Emergency Protection Order, second degree trafficking of a controlled substance, second degree possession of a controlled substance, third degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of marijuana.

On May 12 at 10:30 a.m., a Henderson woman reported the burglary and theft of items worth a total of more than $500 from an outbuilding at her residence. The investigation is continuing. On May 11 at 3:29 p.m., a Henderson woman reported the license plate had been stolen from her vehicle while parked at a public parking lot on Barret Blvd. The investigation is continuing. At least one person was injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 41 and Barret Blvd. in Henderson. Henderson Police said that at 2:51 p.m. on May 11, Derrek Burnette was driving west on Barret Blvd. when he apparently struck William Russell, 53, Owensboro, as Russell was driving north on U.S. 41. A passenger in Russell’s van, Lindsey Russell, 26, Owensboro was transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
 
The Henderson Police Department is investigating a report of a burglary that allegedly took place on May 9 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at a residence in the 1400 block of Woodland Apts. Authorities said that a resident at the address reported someone broke into his home during that time and “committed a theft.” The investigation is continuing.
