spuds stuff 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (6/8/13) – Spudz-N-Stuff celebrated the opening of its fifth location as owner Jason Dicken branched out his $2.1 million dollar a year business into Owensboro.

The new location first opened two weeks ago in the Fairview Drive shopping center.

“I’ve been pleased with the reception we have received in Owensboro,” said Dicken.

Spudz-N-Stuff is the brainchild of Jason Dicken, who first opened the doors of the potato shop about five years ago.

“I was running a chocolate shop in Evansville, and business wasn’t doing so well,” said Dicken. “ I started offering a chicken croissant to my customers, and that did not go over well the a neighbor business owner who had a lease stating that he was the only business allowed to serve sandwiches in the shopping center.”

According to Dicken, the chocolate shop closed on Friday, and Spudz n’ Stuff was born the following Monday.

“Business really took off, and we’re one hundred percent debt free,” said Dicken. “We’re big Dave Ramsey fans. If I can’t pay cash for it, I probably don’t need it.”

About 20 Chamber Ambassadors and members of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce attended the ribbon cutting, where Dicken shared the story of how he developed his business model and some of the various perks, such as catering for parties. He told the group that he came up with the slogan “We Cater Your Tater” while driving along the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville, Ind.

Spudz-N-Stuff offers delivery city-wide, and can be reached at 270-804-4747. They can also be found online at www.spudznstuff.com.
