WASHINGTON, D.C. (7/13/13) - A superseding indictment was unsealed today charging six men with conspiracy to commit six armed bank robberies, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. The six men charged in nine separate counts are Clarence David Huson (a/k/a “Big BA” or “The General”), 41; Jerry Carltown Lewis, 19; Charles Glen Johnson (a/k/a “Kilo”), 19; Leon Wayne Murrell, 19; and Nicholas Deshon Tubbs, 21, all from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Counts one through three of the superseding indictment allege that Hudson, Jerry Lewis, Johnson, and Murrell conspired to rob the Bank of Oklahoma located at 4324 S.E. 44th in Oklahoma City. As part of the conspiracy, it is alleged that Hudson organized the robbery plan and recruited Jerry Lewis and Johnson to rob the bank while Murrell obtained the stolen firearms to use in the robbery. It is alleged that these men also obtained stolen vehicles and cell phones to use in the robbery, as well as hooded sweatshirts intended to hide their identity. On January 18, 2013, it is alleged that Lewis and Johnson robbed the bank armed with pistols, and Hudson acted as a lookout at a nearby location. It is alleged that on January 24, 2013, Hudson, Lewis, and Johnson again robbed the same Bank of Oklahoma bank armed with firearms.
Count four alleges that Murrell is in illegal possession of stolen firearms, including two .357 magnum caliber revolvers, a 12-gauge shotgun, and another revolver.
Count five charges Hudson and Lewis with the February 24, 2013 armed robbery of the Bank of America located at 3510 N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City.
Count six charges Hudson, Jerry Lewis, and Tubbs with the March 5 2013 armed robbery of the Bank of Oklahoma located at 2601 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City.
Counts seven through nine allege that Hudson, Jerry Lewis, and Michael Lewis conspired to rob the IBC Bank located at 901 S.W. 19th Street in Moore and the MidFirst Bank located at 7500 S. Western in Oklahoma City. As part of the conspiracy, it is alleged that Hudson organized the robbery plan and recruited Jerry Lewis and Michael Lewis to rob the two banks using firearms and stolen vehicles to commit the robberies. It is further alleged that on January March 14, 2013, Jerry Lewis and Michael Lewis robbed the IBC Bank and on April 12, 2013, robbed the MidFirst Bank armed with pistols while Hudson acted as a lookout at a nearby location.
The original Indictment had charged Michael Lewis and Jerry Lewis with the April 12, 2013 robbery of the MidFirst Bank located at 7500 S. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City.
All defendants are in now in custody.
If convicted, Hudson, Johnson, Murrell, Jerry Lewis, and Michael Lewis face up to 20 years in prison for the conspiracy counts. Hudson, Johnson, Jerry Lewis, and Michael Lewis each face 25 years in prison on the armed bank robbery counts. Murrell faces up to 10 years for possession of stolen firearms count. The public is reminded that the indictment is merely an accusation and that the defendants are each presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
This case is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Oklahoma City Police Department, Bethany Police Department, and the Warr Acres Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley L. Altshuler.
