NEBO, Ky. (9/17/13) – Gerda Martin of the Madisonville Elks Lodge presented owner of The Kentucky Equine Abilities Center, Carrie McColl with a $2000.00 donation to help continue working with disabled individuals.

The Kentucky Equine Abilities Center is located on 10025 Nebo Road and is a 501 C3 non-profit corporation that solely focuses helping those with disabilities through horseback riding. The center has been active since 2007 and received their 501 C3 in 2009. Since then Carrie and her staff have been working on their mission to help all those of all different ages and with all types of disabilities.

Therapeutic riding can achieve different therapeutic goals that include; physical, cognitive, emotional, educational, social and behavioral goals.

The main goal of Equine Therapy is to help individuals to develop needed skills and attributes, such as, responsibility, self-confidence, accountability, problem – solving skills and self- control.

A center like this takes a lot of manpower and the center is always looking for volunteers, interns and special project groups.
