At a Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting held in honor of the business on Friday, Quiggins told SurfKY News his decision to start Wedding Bells DJ Entertainment stemmed partly from how much he “loved the intensity of a wedding” and his desire to help in making the day more enjoyable for others as well as from his wish to honor the memory of his marriage to his late wife.
Quiggins said the other aspect of his new business was a decision to “show I’m serious about what I do.” He joined the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and signed up to be an ambassador, one of a handful of Chamber members who serve as contacts and volunteers with the organization. He said he wants people to know he’s committed to serving the community.
“I want people to know I’m not going away,” he said. “I’m going to grow, and to be stronger.”
In addition to weddings, Quiggins hosts a variety of other parties and provides DJ services for other functions. For example, he recently provided the music for a National Hotrod Association event, and played 60’s and 70’s era music for a 50-year-old’s birthday party.
Prior to establishing the concept of weddings as part of his business model about three years ago, Quiggins operated his DJ business under the name “Flash DJ Service,” which he started in 1986.
Quiggins said he has help from his fiancé and his son in running the DJ service.
