MURRAY, Ky . - James (Jim) Jones, age 96, of Murray, KY passed away at 5:30am Wednesday at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1917 in Centerville, IL, to the late Charles & Bertha (Stanley) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora, KY, The V F W & The American Legion, a U.S. Army WW II veteran, and the former co-owner of Twin Lakes Shoreline Improvement Co., along with Bob Ross and later Jim McNeely.
He was preceded in death by six sisters; Martha Watkins, Nancy Stone, Bessie Hunsinger, Maude Whiting, Mary Jones and Grace Jones and one brother; Lewis Jones.
He is survived by his wife; Maxine (Pierson) Jones to whom he was married Dec. 22,1970, two step daughters; Vonnie Crowder, and Jan Erkman (Ed), nine grandchildren, twenty one great garndchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday at York Funeral Home. Friends may visit from noon until the funeral hour.
