LEXINGTON, Ky (10/8/13)—It is the time of the year where families, friends and loved ones will try out their artistic ability and carve a pumpkin. Some people will choose to free hand their art work and others will get a stencil to make sure that their carving is the best. Last year I carved a wine glass into a pumpkin without a stencil and thought I was Picasso. Have you ever wondered what 5,000 jack o lanterns lit up at night would look like? For the first time ever a ‘Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular’ will bring that imagination to life.
Held at Iroquois Park in Louisville, the event will begin this Thursday October 10 and last until November 2. 5,000 carved pumpkins will be lining a ¼-mile trail, illuminated at night as an “art show.” Held daily from dusk to midnight during the week and 1 a.m. on the weekends. Pumpkins carved in Disney characters, super heroes, zombies, mummies and more will provide quite the show for all ages. Each section of the jack-o-lantern trail is set up into themed sections with music.
The event is held rain or shine and begins at 7 p.m. nightly. Ticket prices are:
Sunday – Thursday:
$10 seniors, 62+
$9 Children 3-12
Friday – Saturday:
$13 seniors, 62+
$12 Children 3-12
Proceeds from the show benefit the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation & Kosair Charities! For more information, directions or to purchase your tickets visit the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular website.
