James Ronald (J.R.) Chambliss, age 81 of Elkton

HOPKINSVILLE, KY - James Ronald (J.R.) Chambliss, age 81 of Elkton, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN of natural causes.

Mr. Chambliss was born October 14, 1930 in North Hopkins County, KY, the son of the late George Dewey and Cora Thomas Chambliss. J.R. retired as a switchman for L & N and CSX Railroad and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member and deacon at Pembroke Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Morton Chambliss of Elkton; two sons, Douglas Leigh Chambliss and his wife Linda, of Evansville, IN, and James David Chambliss and his wife Sheila, of Elkton, KY; one daughter, Leigh Ann Underwood and her husband Anthony of Hopkinsville; a brother, Gerald Chambliss of Georgia; and a sister, Augustine Neuert of Illinois; four grandchildren; Melissa Tyler, Rachel Chambliss, Hillary Baumgart and Andrew Underwood, and one great grandchild; Sarah Tyler.

Donations can be made to the Pembroke Baptist Church building fund at P.O. Box 219, Pembroke, KY 42266.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Pembroke Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke.
