HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Frank Chanbers, 89, passed away at 8:05 a.m., Monday April 23, 2012 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Arkansas on August 19, 1922, son of the late Claude Chambers and Minnie Brown Chambers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served with the 158th Bushmasters during World War II. and was awarded three Bronze Service Stars. He also served as an officer with the Hopkinsville Police Department and the Phoenix, Arizona Police Department. After returning to Hopkinsville he worked as a salesman for Mid-State Automotive.
His wife, Mary Garnett Johnson Chambers passed away in 2002. He is survived by two sons; A. Frank Chambers (Susan), Phoenix, Arizona, and Mark Chambers (Mary Rae), Hopkinsville, KY. Two daughters; Mrs. Morris (Tracy) Matzke, Hopkinsville, KY and Mrs. Robert (Tammy)Turner, Hopkinsville, KY. A brother; Joseph Chambers, Willcox, Arizona, and a sister, Francis Thomas, Tucson, Arizona. Four Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, and Three Step Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday April 26, 2012 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
