HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Boyce Grubbs, 85, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at NHC Healthcare in Franklin, TN.
A native of Magee, Mississippi he was born April 22, 1927 the son of the late Peter Barxter Grubbs and Mary Florence Roberts Grubbs. He was a retired SFC with the United States Army. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. After his retirement he worked in civil service as an Automotive Instructor. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Lucille Armstrong Grubbs, who passed away in 2000.
Survivors include two sons: J. Michael Grubbs of Indianapolis, IN and Philip M. Grubbs (Donna) of Penfield, New York; his daughter: Susan Grubbs Stabler (Walt) of Franklin, TN; five grandchildren: Bryan Grubbs, Kelly Stiles, Debra Shacklett, Bryan Stabler, and Meredith Grubbs; and two great grandchildren: Natalie Stiles and Gabriella Shacklett.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. Dr. Neil A. Salvaterra officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
