HOPKINSVILLE, KY - R.B. Gary, 81, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his residence of natural causes.
A native of Christian County born October 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Virgil King Gary and Jessie McNally. He worked in bread sales for more than 40 years retiring from Dolly Madison.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a long-time member and deacon at Concord Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Sowell Gary, one son, V.K. Gary and Beth Harvey, Clarksville, TN, one daughter, Debbie Gary Spain and her husband David C., Hopkinsville, one brother, Charles Garry, Columbus, GA, four grandchildren; Hillary Spain Milligan, David Matthew Spain, Nicholas Gary, Kaci Gary, three great-grandchildren, Mason Spain, Isaiah Spain and Cooper Spain, two nephews; Frank Gary and Tommy Gary and one niece, Sandra Gary McIntosh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Betty Gary Ellis.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Dennis Wilder with burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Scott Daniels, Don McGowan, Jeff Francis, Joey Pendleton, Mike Foster and Jerry Deason. Honorary pallbearers will be David Barbee, Buddy Henderson, Dan Dorman, John Major, Darren Grace, Lee Major and Mark White.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
