John Bell Mason, 88, Hopkinsville, Ky

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - John Bell Mason, 88, Hopkinsville, Ky passed away at 7:32 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Baptist Health of Madisonville of natural causes.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville conducted by Rev. Emory Riley with private burial of remains to follow in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A native of Cadiz, KY born April 25, 1924, he was the son of the late John Bell Mason, Sr. and Johnie Mae Aldridge Mason. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946.

He was a former member of the Civitan Club, American Legion and VFW. He had served as Vice-President of the West KY Fair Board, as Vice-President of the Jaycees and was a member of First Baptist Church.

He had served as General Manager at Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative and retired in 1986 after having worked there for 37 years. He was active in the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association and was the charter member at Western Hills Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Parrent Mason, one son, Tom Mason and his wife Barbara of Covington, KY and two grandsons; David Mason and his wife Lindsay, Cincinnati, Ohio and Dan Mason and his fiancée Jenny Christman of Manhattan Beach, California.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church, 1400 S. Main St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
