HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - James Edward Doss, Sr., 85, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his residence of natural causes.

A native of Christian County, KY he was born March 20, 1927 the son of the late Nathan Robert Doss and Margaret Lucille Johnson Doss. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired as the manager of the A&P tea company.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Andrew Doss, in 2000.

Survivors include his wife: Shirley Johnson Doss; two sons: James E. Doss, Jr. (Karen) of Gracey, KY and Mark Randy Doss (Kim) of Gilbertsville, KY; a daughter: Mrs. David “Kathy” Pruitt of Pembroke, KY; five brothers: Charles Albert Doss (Betty) and Thomas Doss (Angela) both of Hopkinsville, Dr. William J. Doss (Charlene) of Murray, KY, Paul Doss (Angela) of Lexington, KY, and Mike Doss (Janice) of Paducah, KY; two sisters: Mrs. Wayne “Betty” Riddle of Lexington, KY and Mrs. Joseph “Margaret Ann” McCorkle of Lexington, KY; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Giltner officiated. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of the arrangements.
