HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Wendell Ray Mathews, Jr., 63, of Oak Grove, KY passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville, TN following a long illness.

A native of Floyd County, Kentucky born January 25, 1950, he was the son of the late Austin Wendell and Christa Lea Reynolds Mathews.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been employed by Old South Freight Service, Inc. as a driver for many years.

He is survived by two brothers; Darrell Eugene Mathews and Robert Herbert Mathews and two sisters; Cheri Lynn Mathews and Janie Rose Mathews, all of Oak Grove.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Bencie Rasnake with burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Mach 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
