Glendal Lee Gates age 77 of Hopkinsville, KY

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Glen Lee Gates age 77 of Hopkinsville, KY passed away 3:30 AM Friday, May 03, 2013 at his home of natural causes.

Mr. Gates was born January 1, 1936 in Clifty, KY the son of the late Henry Alexander and Gladys Clack Gates. He was retired from G and R Carpet and a member of the Pembroke Ruritan and also a member of the Elks Lodge in Hopkinsville where he was a former exalted ruler. He attended the Sinking Fork Baptist Church and also was a longtime Jr. Pro Basketball coach. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Gates.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Gates of Hopkinsville, two sons, Alan Gates of Hopkinsville and Roger Gates of Portland, TN; three daughters, Kelly Gates of Hopkinsville, Kim Earl of Fishers, IN and Vickie Hamlet of Owensboro, KY; step sons, James Russell Ellis of Scottsville, KY and Kenneth Ellis of Hopkinsville; step daughters, Kathy Tuck of Scottsville, Sheral Harmon and Lynette McKnight both of Hopkinsville; five grandchildren, Sara Earl, Derrick Gates, Glen Gates, Adam Hamlet and Lacey Hutchinson; three great grandchildren, Morgan Hamlet, Myra Gates and Elena Gates; step grandchildren, Kaleb Smith, Josh Dawson and Colton Ellis.

Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 500 to 800 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Pennyroyal Hospice 220 Burley Ave Hopkinsville, KY 42240 or to Sinking Fork Baptist Church at 5800 Princeton Rd. Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
