PEMBROKE, Ky. – Robert Edward “Bob” Hayes, age 80, of Pembroke passed away 10:11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
Bob was born June 15, 1932 in Christian County the son of the late Claude and Imogene Tribble Hayes. He was retired from Phelps Dodge after 26 years were he was a supervisor in the film department. Bob also was the owner and operator of the Pure Oil server station. He also was a farmer and a member of the Southside Church of Christ. Bob was also past member of the Lions Club, Pembroke Ruritan and a former Pembroke City Council member.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Doug Hayes, Ralph Hayes and Jerry Hayes; two sisters, Doris Litchfield and Wilma Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Lancaster Hayes of Pembroke; one son, Todd Hayes and his wife Emily of Goshen, KY; two daughters, Sandy Higgins and her husband, Michael of Hendersonville, TN and Leigh-Anne Price and her husband, Todd of Cadiz; one brother, Ronnie Hayes of Hopkinsville; one sister, Pam Cook of Trinity, FL; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Higgins, Emily Higgins, Erin Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Will Hayes, Jacob Price and Jensen Price.
Services will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Terry Jones and Walter Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
