HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Dennis Gilmer Hill, 90, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as the result of injuries sustained in a fall on May 5.
A native of Christian County, KY born July 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Gilmer Killibrew and Mary Ethel Sizemore Hill and had been a self-employed farmer.
He had been a life-time member and elder at Sinking Fork Christian Church and had served 17 years on Christian County Board of Education.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Bonell West Hill in June, 2011.
Survivors include two sons; Steven Dennis Hill and his wife Debbie of Bowling Green, KY and Alan Duane Hill and his wife Valerie of Madisonville, KY, one sister, Dorothy Grace of Hopkinsville, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Dale Hill on May 23, 1983.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville conducted by Gary Satterfield with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Gresham, Greg Glass, Jaren Hill, Justin Hill, Jason Hill and Matthew Owen. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaycee Hill, Elisha Hill and Rhianna Hill.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
