Gale Lee Hagensick, age 90, of Hopkinsville, Ky

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Gale Lee Hagensick, age 90, of Hopkinsville, Ky, passed away 10:15AM Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Covington’s Convalescent Center.

Mr. Hagensick was born November 4, 1922 in Nunda, South Dakota, the son of the late Glenn Dale and Mary Elizabeth Stahl Hagensick. Mr. Hagensick was a retired veteran in the US Army where he served in WWII and two Vietnam tours. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Metal, two Army Commendation Medals, the Vietnamese Signal Badge and Good Conduct Metal. He also worked for 16 years as a full Electronic Technician for Wisconsin National Guard. Gale was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a member of KY Colonels. He was an Eagle Scout and also served as a Boy Scout Master for 12 years and an Explorer Scout advisor for 4 years. He was an honorary member and past treasurer of Hopkinsville Art Guild, and honorary member and past president of the Pennyrile Chapter of the Good Sam’s Club. Gale was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Doris Mae LaBonne Hagensick in 2002; his brothers, Clarence, and Robert Hagensick.

Survivors include his sons, Richard Hagensick of Prairie du Chien, WI, David Hagensick of Prairie du Chien, WI, Timothy Hagensick of Fairbanks, AK, and Jeffery Hagensick of Seward, AK; his daughter, Cynthia Hagensick of Hopkinsville, KY; and his grandson, Jeffery Hagensick of Seward, AK.

Visitation will be from 2:00PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be at a later date at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Pennyroyal Hospice at 220 Burley Ave, Hopkinsville, KY 42240, or Senior Citizens Center at 1402 West 7th Street, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
