Gaylon Ray Martin, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY

1flowerHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Gaylon Ray Martin, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

A native of Crofton, Ky born May 23, 1930, he was the son of the late Barney and Leona Adams Martin. He had been a truck driver for 25 years for Thomas Industries and was a member of Bridge of Hope Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Johnson Martin, Hopkinsville, four sons; David Stone of White Oak, Texas, Gary Martin and his wife Valerie, Hopkinsville, Rick Martin and his wife Tina, Paducah, Ky and Ronnie Martin and his wife Stephanie of Hopkinsville, one daughter, Sherry Beck and her husband Scott, Hopkinsville, one sister, Wilma Goode, Crofton, Ky, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Martin in December, 1976 and by a grandson, Brian Martin in 2008.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville conducted by Rev. Gene Johnson with entombment to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad Martin, Ricky Martin II, Jeremy Martin, Joshua Martin, David N. Stone and Chase Martin.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to: St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
