HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Rev. Roy W. Field, Jr., 88, of Hopkinsville, KY and formerly of Fairview Heights, IL passed away at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
A native of East St. Louis, IL, he was born March 13, 1925, the son of the late Roy Wallace Field, Sr. and Hazel Marie Judd Field. He was pastor for 20 years at Sterling Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, IL. In 1980, he pastored Henderson Memorial Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY, later Trigg County Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY, and retired from Locust Grove Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. He was a former State Brotherhood President for the Illinois Baptist Association, a former member of the Illinois State Board of Directors for the Illinois Baptist Association. He served 2 consecutive terms as Moderator for the Christian County Baptist Association, and 2 terms as Moderator for the Trigg County Baptist Association. He was a craftsman in wood working.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bonnie Jean Brazzle Field; his daughter, Sandra Jean Field Burden of Hopkinsville; his brother, Donald Giles Field (Janette) of Belleville, IL; his sisters, Dorothy Seals (John) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Virginia Gruenke (Vernon) of Fairview Heights, IL; 2 grandchildren; Derek Johnson (Ann) and Kimberly Charvez, both of Palm Bay, FL and 2 great grandchildren; Cheyenne Charvez and Jacob Johnson, both of Palm Bay, FL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Melton and Rev. Danny Belcher officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Hughart & Beard Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., July 22, 2013, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, IL. Visitation in Illinois will be Monday, July 22, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary in Fairview Heights, IL. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville in charge of arrangements.
