Dorothea (Dottie) Katherine Lane, age 89, of Hopkinsville, Ky

butterfly2HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Dorothea (Dottie) Katherine Lane, age 89, of Hopkinsville, Ky passed away 11:06 PM Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

Ms. Lane was born on February 3, 1924 in Union County, KY, the daughter of the late Clifton H. and Ursula Eddings Lane. She was appointed by the International Mission board to Japan to teach English at the Seinan Jo Gakuin Junior College. She also lived in Tokyo where she worked in logistics for entire Japan mission for over 40 years. She helped Japanese family moving to Hopkinsville adapt to American culture and English Language. Dottie was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, B.K. Lane; her sister, Mary Lou Blane.

Survivors include her sister, Ruth McConnell of Hopkinsville, KY; her nieces and nephew, Linda Lane Thurman, Paulette Blaine Goodwin, Ruth Anne McConnell, Tandy McConnell, and Becky McConnell Waggoner, and several great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 11, 2013 with Rev. Nick Sandefur and Rev. Brandon Boone officiating at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
