HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Windel E. Wooton, 76, U.S. Army LTC (Ret.), of Mars Hill, NC and formerly of Hopkinsville, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2013 in Asheville, NC of natural causes.
Graveside funeral services will at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at KY Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.
A native of Red Jacket, WV born May 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Carl and Fannie Mae Davis Wooton and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hopkinsville.
He was retired U.S. Army , a VietNam veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army, he became the Financial Director for the City of Hopkinsville, a job he continued through the administrations of both Sherry Jeffers and Rich Liebe before his retirement to Mars Hill, N.C. where he has made his home.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Leah Adkins Wooton, Mars Hill, NC, one son, James Thomas Wooton, Indianapolis, IN, two daughters; Lori Andria Wooton and Leslee Jane Wooton, both of Mars Hill, three grandchildren; Adam Michael Reda, Allison Grace Wooton and Mason Bailey Wooton, and one great-grandson, Tacoma Michael Reda.
