Vernon Eskridge West, Jr., 96, of Hopkinsville, Ky

eagleHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Vernon Eskridge West, Jr., 96, of Hopkinsville, Ky of Morningside Assisted Living passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness.

A native of Washington D.C., he was born September 19, 1916 the son of the late Vernon Eskridge West and Nina VanArsdale West. He retired after 40 years from Bell Telephone. He was a member of Christ Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Camp West, who passed away January 25, 2013.

Survivors include his son: John B. West (Sylvia O. West) of Herndon, KY; his daughter: Joy VanArsdale West Borden (Andrew P. Borden) of Colorado Springs, CO; his four grandchildren: John Carter Borden, Andrew West Borden, Leila West Hundley, and John Nathaniel West; and his five great grandchildren: Kenda Borden, Alexa Borden, Jake Borden, Rachel Borden, and Jaron Hundley.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home with Rev. James Williams and Rev. Vince Farrell officiating. Entombment will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ Community Church 425 Millbrooke Drive, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
