violence1 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (9/16/13) – On Saturday, Sept. 7 Muhlenberg County Sheriff Curtis McGehee spoke at the Western Kentucky University (Owensboro Campus). The sheriff had the opportunity, via IVS to speak to students at Elizabethtown and Ft. Knox while speaking to the students in Owensboro.

Sheriff McGehee was invited to speak to students who were taking a Family Violence Class. The classes were under the direction of Dr. Diane Owsley.

The sheriff defined domestic violence as it is reflected in Kentucky Law and elaborated on how this issue is affecting Kentuckians. McGehee also advised students of the primary causes of domestic issues and spoke of laws that were in place to protect victims.

McGehee also stressed that it was important for victims to seek Emergency Protection or Domestic Violence Orders as domestic situations are often very dangerous and sometimes turn deadly.
