oboro public school1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/4/13) - The Owensboro Public School Board of Education met at Foust Elementary on Thursday to discuss the progress of the school and the district It’s been a really busy startup. The dust is settling, Janie Moseley, Principal of Foust Elementary, said.

Moseley said that she was pleased with the way things have started out and that she is also pleased with the test scores that were presented last week.

Foust Elementary is in the top ten percent of schools with improvement, according to Moseley, and they are four points away from proficiency. Moseley said that she continues to instill in her staff to be ahead and rigorous in their curriculum and meet the individual needs of the kids. Superintendent Nick Brake agreed. “We have to remain focused on our kids,” Brake said.

Brake and the other board members went over what they discussed in a recent KSPA meeting and said that they will produce a document conversation between the board and superintendent to be turned in to the state soon. The document would discuss the district delivery targets, resources, support systems, and the facility systems. The project would show how the Owensboro Public School district could reach proficiency in the near future. Brake will be going to every school to observe, make growth plans, discuss goals, and reflect with the principals. The first round of meetings will be held in early November.

The next Owensboro Board of Education luncheon is scheduled for Oct. 17 at noon.
