HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Joyce Delores Gray, 68, of Oak Grove, KY passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN following a brief illness.
A native of Raeford, NC she was born March 6, 1945 the daughter of the late Henry Brake and Nellie Taylor Evans. She was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired civil service from the nutrition department of the hospital. She attended Lester Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was past president of the Purple Heart Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Women’s Veterans of America, Past Commander of the DAV, and a great supporter of visiting veterans in hospitals and nursing homes.
Survivors include her daughter: Janice Smyrl of Hopkinsville, KY; her step son: John Gray of Browns Mill, NJ; her step daughter: Jackie Gray of Browns Mill, NJ; her brother: John Evans of Roberts, MO; her sisters: Sonja Williams of St. Charles, MO and Sarah Miller of Thompsonville, GA; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three step great grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with the Rev. Don Troutman officiating. Burial will follow in Ky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
