J. Reeves Davie, 95, of Hopkinsville, KY

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - J. Reeves Davie, 95, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 4:10 p.m. at Spring Meadow Healthcare Center in Clarksville, TN of natural causes.

A native of Hickman, KY he was born on April 24, 1918 the son of the late Jones Roper Davie and Erlinda Faye Saunders Davie. He was U.S. Marine veteran. He was a County Extension Agent for Agriculture. He was instrumental in promoting the no-till farming concept. He is a past president of the Ky Association of County Agricultural Agents, and served three terms as secretary of the organization. He was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the University of Ky and awarded the 'Laurels for the Living' from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Bicentennial Commission for his pioneering efforts in No-Till Farming. He was a member of the Liberty Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Susan Word Davie, who passed away December 4, 1996.

Survivors include his sons: Alfred R. Davie (Janine) of Christian Co., KY and Gene Davie of Hopkinsville, KY; his daughter: Susan Faye Parsons of Versailles, KY; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with Rev. James O. Hazelrigg officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Liberty Christian Church Memorial Fund or the givers favorite charity.
