HOPKINSVILLE, KY - Lawrence E. Rosser, 81, Oak Grove, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at Gateway Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Sterling, Illinois, he was born on July 26, 1930 the son of the late James Marcus Rosser and Esther Atkinson Rosser. Mr. Rosser retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. He attained the rank of Sgt. First Class and served in the Vietnam War and in Korea. Following his retirement from the army he worked for 26 years as an Electrician for Hillcrest Mobile Homes. He served on the Oak Grove City Council for 20 years where he was the Planning and Zoning representative. He had also been active with the Lions Club and was a Mason.
Survivors include his Wife; Zeda Rosser, Oak Grove, KY. Two sons; Patrick Michael Rosser, Newton, Alabama and Timothy Lawrence Rosser, Oak Grove, KY. A daughter, Amanda Rosser Armstrong, Oak Grove, KY. Three sisters; Patsy Rosser Johnson, Newton, Al., Carolyn Borland, Pinkard, Al., and Mary Virginia Showalter, Dothan, Al., and Five Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday evening at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home.
