Catheryn W. Brooks, age 98, of Calvert City, KY

 

3flowerCALVERT CITY, KY- Catheryn W. Brooks, age 98, of Calvert City, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa. Born in Leighton, AL on April 19, 1913, she was a homemaker, the past president of the Kentucky Women's Golf Association, and was a life member of the Calvert City Country Club. She was a member of the Calvert City United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late S.B. Wright and the late Pauline (Pickens) Wright.

She is survived by: sons: Clayton Brooks, Conover, NC, wife Marty; Charles Brooks, Cadiz, KY; Melvin Brooks, Cadiz, KY; brother: Charles H. Wright, Florence, AL; sister: Becky Hearn, Sheffield, AL, husband Tommy; grandchildren: Cathy Brooks, Independence, MO, Ami Brooks, Hickory, NC, Doug Brooks, Washington, MO, Melvin Bradley Brooks, Somerset, KY, Beth Hebert, Iona, LA, 9 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Basiel C. Brooks, daughters in law: Sara Brooks and Sonya Brooks; grandchild: William Alan Brooks; and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at Collier Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Tommy Jowers officiating.

Interment will follow in the Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Calvert City United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY.
