Wilma Alice (Gardner) Pace, age 92, of Hardin

 

flower03MURRAY, KY - Wilma Alice (Gardner) Pace, age 92, of Hardin, passed away on January 3, 2012 at Spring Creek Nursing Home in Murray, KY.

Mrs. Pace was a lifelong resident of Hardin and a member of the Hardin Church of Christ. She was a graduate of the 1940 class of Murray State Teachers College. She began her teaching career in Crofton, KY. In 1946 she joined the Marshall County School System teaching in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. In 1958 she moved to South Marshall High School/Junior High School until her retirement in 1982. The teaching profession was her life. She loved teaching and she loved her students.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dwight Bernard Pace, her parents, William Henry Gardner and Nannie Alice (Cress) Gardner and her brother, William Cress Gardner.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Pace) Johnson and son-in-law, Douglas Einar Johnson of Hardin, KY., son, Douglas Dwight Pace of Washington DC; former daughter-in-law, Marky Goetz Goodpasture Pace of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law, Janice (Pace) Miller, brother-in-law Ron of Bonita Springs, FL; granddaughters, Annette Carolyn Hand and husband, Charles of Cincinnati, OH, Lauren Elizabeth Goetz Pace of Houston, TX, and Amanda Caroline Goetz Pace of Nashville, TN. Great grandchildren, Brennan Douglas Hand, Sophie Caroline Hand and Savannah Violet Buckingham.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.

Kent Sutherland and Charley Bazzell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pace Cemetery, Hardin, KY.

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to an organization of their choice or to the Eastern European Mission -since 1961, EEM has been providing Bibles and Biblical literature in the languages of the nations of Eastern Europe - EEM, P.O. Box 670982, Dallas, TX 75367-0928.
