OWENSBORO, KY - Dudley Hughes 61, of Island, KY went to be with Jesus and his parents on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his home in Island.
Ray Dudley Hughes was born September 9, 1950 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to the late Clay Ray and Mildred Jean Bowman Hughes and was married to the former Mary Ann Thomasson on August 29, 1997. Dudley retired from the Laborers Local # 1392 in Owensboro, was a member of the Church Street General Baptist Church in Bremen, and was a U.S. Marine and Navy Veteran. He enjoyed studying and reading the Bible, working in his yard, and wood-working. Dudley also loved spending time with his family, friends, and his church family.
In addition to his parents, Dudley was preceded in death by his step mother, Maxine Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hughes; two sons and their wives, Andy and Jenny Hughes of Franklin, Tennessee and Shea and Abigail Hughes of Weatherford, Texas; a step son and his wife, Steve and Shannon Burden of Livermore; eight grandchildren, Sienna Hughes, Micah Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Bentley Hughes, Derrick Burden, Heather Burden, Lea Ann Burden, and Dustina Burden; and two great grandchildren, Gracie Burden and Kenna Burden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Danny Greene, Bishop Ken Davis, and Dr. G. Dennis McGuire officiating. Burial will be in the Island Baptist Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Dudley’s Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Livermore.
