Hettie Craig Ward, 90, of Owensboro, Kentucky

 

OWENSBORO, KY - Hettie Craig Ward, 90, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Monday, February 20, 2012, at Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation in Owensboro.

She was born on January 29, 1922 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Alfred Bradfield and Eva Bradfield Rowland. She retired from General Electric Company after 32 years and was a member of Thruston United Methodist Church. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved the ballgames, picnics, swimming parties and birthday gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Coleman Craig and Willis Ward; her son, Alfred Craig and his wife, Jean Craig; and three sisters, Mae Hansford, Laura Mayfield, Florence Stinnett and a brother, Elza Bradfield.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Ted Crabtree of Utica, KY; grandchildren, Tammy Allen and Greg of Newburgh, IN, Cathy Barr and Donnie of Hartford, KY, Randy Crabtree and Staci of Utica and Ricky Crabtree of Prospect, KY; great grandchildren, Amanda, Craig and Luke Bramschreiber, Kaley, Lance and Gaige Crabtree and Dylan and Shelby Barr; a great-great grandchild, Martin Bramschreiber and step grandchildren, Mishawn Meeker and Tony, Scot, Danny and Kerry Ringham. She is also survived by a sister, Florene Hunt of Owensboro.

A special thank you to the caring nurses and staff of Hermitage who went out of their way to be so kind and helpful to Mom for eight years.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Dream Riders, 5760 Hwy. 60 W., Owensboro, KY 42301.
