Richard Eugene Deitz, 83 of Owensboro

OWENSBORO, KY - Richard Eugene Deitz, 83 of Owensboro passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his home.

He was born on May 15, 1928 in Cornwall, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Deitz and Loretta Leibgig Deitz. He was retired from Charley Chips as production manager. He was a US Army veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of Audubon Church of the Nazarene. He was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, UK basketball and loved singing.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nadine Deitz; two sons, Robert Wayne Deitz and Kenneth Richard Deitz; stepson, Dalton Revlett; stepdaughter, Debbie Unsel; brother Marlin Deitz; sisters, Marian Deitz and June Yeakley.

Surviving is his wife of 22 years of marriage, Jana Rone Deitz; his sons, Glenn(Judy)Deitz of Henderson, Ricky(Sandra)Deitz of Calhoun and Keith(Bonnie)Deitz of Scottsville; Step-daughters, Jeannie(Robert)Russell of Owensboro, Donna(Ray)Dant of Sebree, step-son, Frank(Anita)Revlett of Owensboro, Kathy(Frank)Kicinski of Pellville, Frannie(Doug)Sunn of Rumsey; 49 Grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Elenor Hodyshell, of Cornwall, PA, Shirley Yingst of Elizabethtown, PA , 1 brother, Lennie Deitz of Brooklyn, NY and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be 10:00am Monday. February 27, 2012 at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Grant officiating and burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Elba, KY.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00pm Sunday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 9:00 to 10:00am Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or the Audubon Church of the Nazarene, 15 Carter Road, Owensboro, KY 42301
