Mary Catherine Head, 86, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, KY - Mary Catherine Head, 86, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on March 21, 2012 at Wellington Parc.

She was born on September 8, 1925 in New Haven, KY to the late Charles Thomas and Sue Willie Boone Bowling. She was a lifetime member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Mary had a kind heart and a giving spirit. Her volunteer work included working at Blessed Mother Elementary School's library, Mercy Hospital, Right to Life, bereavement dinners for Blessed Mother Catholic Church, and the Help Office. She enjoyed watching college basketball and tennis, and taking walks in the park, as well as playing cards and bingo. Later in life she learned how to line dance and took numerous trips with her many friends through the Senior Citizens Organization. She had a full life and was a grateful soul. Mary was a survivor of breast cancer, kidney cancer and two colon cancers and suffered from Alzheimer's at the end of life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Head (1994) one brother, John Bowling and one sister, Viola Bowling. She is survived by four daughters, Donna (Randy) Montgomery of Evansville, IN, Barbara (Bill) Weikel of Owensboro, Kathy (Steve) Hicks of Huntsville, AL, Nancy (Tom) McDaniel of Edwardsville, IL,; two sons Joseph Raymond (Nina) Head of Lexington, KY and Thomas (Debra) Head of Goodlettsville, TN; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 10am Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father John Meredith officiating with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00pm Friday, at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and Saturday, 8:00 to 9:30am at the funeral home. Prayers said at 5:30pm Friday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 601 E. 23rd Street, Owensboro, KY 42303 and Help Office of Owensboro, 1316 W. 4th Street, Owensboro, KY 42301
