Julia Francis (Nana) Carter, 93, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, KY - Julia Francis (Nana) Carter, 93, of Owensboro, KY went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

She was born on January 25, 1919 in KY to the late Charles and Mattie Pearl Rogers. She had been employed as Office Manager for Gabes Tower Motor Inn for 18 years. She was a dedicated member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and a charter member of Windridge County Club, where she had been a member since 1958. She was an avid golfer, a wonderful cook and loved serving others. She never met a stranger and was known as "Nana" by so many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Wendell Carter, on September 11, 2008.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Debbi Cissell of Prospect, KY; grandchildren, Jeff McCain (Laura) and Julie Murray (Adam); great grandchildren, Megan, Luke, John Ross, Kate, Jacob, Cole and Justin and a brother, Carl Houston Rogers and wife, JoAnn of Louisville, KY.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:30 am. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 1120 Woodlawn Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1230 Liberty Bank Lane, Ste. 300, Louisville, KY 40222.
