Edward L. Tate, 91, of Owensboro

tate edOWENSBORO, KY - Edward L. Tate, 91, of Owensboro, passed away March 31, 2012, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Owensboro.

He was born on May 7, 1920 in Livingston County, KY to the late Lewie & Susie Tate. He owned Ed's Sharpening Service and also worked for Wyndalls Foodland as the supervisor of the meat department. Ed was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Masonic Lodge #729.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Quinn (Mrs. Allen Quinn); a sister, Myrtle Mounts and a brother, Roy Tate.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Walker Tate; a son, Terry M. Tate and his wife, Denise of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Celecia Quinn-Jones, Michael Tate, and Stephen Tate and four great grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
