Shirley J. Hargan, 75, of Utica, KY

hargan obitOWENSBORO, KY - Shirley J. Hargan, 75, of Utica, KY passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

She was born on April 29, 1936 in Owensboro to the late James Taylor and Gertrude Blacklock. She retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing, hunting, her family, and church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David M. Blacklock on April 3, 2012 and by a daughter, Lisa Hargan in1971.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter "Corky" Hargan; two daughters, Sheila Bodnar (Byron) of Utica, KY and Sharon McStotts (Michael) of Hartford, KY; grandchildren, Jon Bodnar, Tiffany Abney (Matt), Daniel Fielder and Lee Bodnar; great grandchildren, Serenity and Gracie Abney; siblings, Sherri B. Sumner (Jimmy), Janice Hines (Bob) and James R. Taylor; a sister-in-law, Christina Blacklock; a special niece Tracy Blair (Andrew); and a special nephew Jay Sumner.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Redhill Cemetery in Utica, KY. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Shirley Hargan Memorial Fund, 3009 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
