herring Velma1OWENSBORO, KY - Velma Lois Herring, 81, of Maple Manor Healthcare & Rehab in Greenville, KY, passed away, Tuesday, April 17, 2012.

She was born September 12, 1930 in Roseville, KY to the late Corbert and Dora Adkins Voyles. She was a housewife and of the Baptist Faith.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Herman Craig (October of 2002) and her husband Calvin Ralph Herring (April 1984),

She is survived by 3 daughters, Velma Cummins of Fordsville, KY, Gayle Cline of Livingston, TX, Rebecca (Rolfe) Ashley of Owensboro, KY, 7 grandchildren, Rebecca Peaches, Jason Ashley, Michael Ashley, James Crabtree, Tonya Lacox, Jennifer Crabtree, and Brian Crabtree, 15 Great-grandchildren, April Ashley, Leah Lestage, Joseph Lestage, II, Beau Ashley, Ashanta Ashley, Michael Ashley, II, Scarlett Wilson, Kaleb Ashley, Shawn Crabtree, Kabrina Crabtree, Brayden Crabtree, Christopher Mayo, Ryan Kelley, Logan Lacox, Alley Lacox, and 1 great-great-grandchild, Ty'Shaun Lestage-Majors. She is also survived by a sister, Ora Tussey of St Francisville, IL and a half sister, Julie Alvey of Christney, IN.

Services will be 10:00am Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hawesville Cemetery in Hancock County.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00pm Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8:00 to 10:00am Saturday at the funeral home.
