CALHOUN, KY - Houston Bryant Whitaker, 33, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 in Calhoun.
Houston Bryant Whitaker was born October 19, 1978 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Luie Allan and Deborah Lynn Wells Whitaker and was married to his high school sweetheart, the former Brittany Carol Page on September 6, 2003. He was a farmer, helped his family at R & W Warehouse and Trucking in Calhoun, where he worked alongside Papaw Doug for more than 12 years, and was a member and Deacon of the Calhoun Baptist Church. Houston was inspired and mentored in farming by his father, Luie and his uncle, Rod Kuegel. Houston was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother he loved his children and his church, had a passion for ministering to the youth, and enjoyed fellowshipping with his Brothers and Sisters in Christ. He was a recipient of the DuPont Young Leadership Award, the Farm Bureau Outstanding Young Farmer Award, served on the Phillip Morris Leadership Program, Class 6 of 2000, and served on the McLean County Farm Bureau Board. Houston was preceded in death by a niece, Emmalee Grace Bowlds, and his grandparents,
Hugh Byrant and Loretta Whitaker and Marion D. “Duddy” Wells.
Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Brittany Whitaker; a son, Houston Bryant “H.B.” Whitaker, II at home; a daughter, Caroline Paige Whitaker at home; his parents, Luie and Debbie Whitaker of Calhoun; Brittany’s parents, Ricky and Karen Page of Utica; two sisters and their husbands, Shelby and Shawn Decker and Kristie and Andy Bowlds both of Calhoun; his grandparents, Billie and Earl Bibb of Madisonville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Calhoun Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Sams and the Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. Friends may visit with Houston’s Family from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 11:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at the Calhoun Baptist Church. A time of Worship to honor His Savior will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Church. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Houston’s Family.
