Dortha McAfee Osborne, 82, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, KY - Dortha McAfee Osborne, 82, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her daughter’s home. She was born in McClean County, KY to the late John Daniel and Willie McAfee.

Dortha retired from General Electric where she had worked in the quality lab. She was a member of Settle Memorial Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 45 years and belonged to the Mary Lou Phillips Sunday School Class. Dortha was an avid Aquaciser and made many friends at the YMCA. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother who especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Dortha was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joseph Clifton Osborne in 1996; a daughter, Kathy Shoulders 1994; sisters, Ellora Myer and Betty Pendleton and a half brother, John Daniel McAfee.

She is survived by her daughters, Ellora Howard (Gary) of Hammond, LA and Theresa Szemethy (Brian) of Owensboro, KY; a son, Carl Wayne Osborne (Debbie) of Shirley, IN; grandchildren, Bryce, Kylah and Tavis Howard, Lora and Leigh Ann Shoulders, Kate and Joseph Osborne, Louis and Nicholas Szemethy; a sister, Ouida Pruden of Owensboro, KY and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 22 at Settle Memorial Methodist Church. Rev. Darren Brandon will officiate. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Saturday after 9:00 am at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Settle Memorial Methodist Church or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
