OWENSBORO, Ky. - Robert Earl Kirby, 72, of Owensboro, KY passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born January 25, 1941 in Owensboro to the late Pleas and Elizabeth Fuqua Kirby, Sr. He was a retired meat cutter for Kroger and a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Kirby was an avid golfer, UK fan and loved to sing. While attending Brescia, he won the Florence Henderson Scholarship to Neighborhood Place House in New York.
Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Newcomb and Caroline Greenly.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Schrecker Kirby, sons, George Montgomery of Idaho, Dennis Montgomery and his partner Jeff of Seattle, WA, Paul Montgomery and his wife Brenda of Owensboro, Ben Montgomery and his wife Angie of Nashville, TN, nine grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brothers, Pleaz Kirby and his wife Jane of Owensboro, John Kirby and his wife, Joyce of Owensboro and Don Kirby and his wife, Mary Jo of Louisville.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with Father Carl McCarthy officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
