OWENSBORO, Ky. - Stephen Wayne Basham, Sr., 63, of Maceo, KY passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his home. He was born on December 24, 1949 to the late Kenneth Ivy and Mary Jean (Howard) Basham. He retired as a station operator for Marathon Oil Company. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam; a member of Daviess County Fish & Game Association and served on the board of directors for the Yelvington Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, camping and fishing and was a U.K. fan.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Basham; son, Wayne Basham, Jr. (Tamarah) of Lexington, KY; daughter, Jennifer Kelley (Danny) of Maceo, KY; grandchildren, Houston and Kattie Roberts, Tristan Sparks, Macaela Sanders, Ethan Basham, Cameron Howard, Hayden Basham, Hunter & Autumn Schweizer and Apryl Goatee; brothers, Kenneth Basham (Sue) and Bobby Basham (Sis); sisters, Sheila Raymond (Dean) and Nancy Shelton (David); a special sister, Sonia Carter and his beloved dog, Jake.
Services are 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Yelvington Baptist Church. Burial is in Kelly Cemetery in Maceo. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. The family requests casual dress for the visitation and funeral. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
