Nancy Kirk Schroader, 62, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Nancy Kirk Schroader, 62, of Owensboro, KY passed from this life on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at her home. Throughout her battle with cancer, she maintained a positive attitude and always had words of encouragement for her family, her caregivers, and visitors. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved her.

Nancy was born on October 1, 1950 and spent her childhood in Habit. She worked for 30 years as an engineering clerk for Bell South. After retirement, she worked as a teaching assistant for Daviess County Public Schools.

Nancy was a member of the Fellowship Bible class at Owensboro Christian Church and regularly attended Christ Community Church. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. In recent years she hiked 240 miles of the Appalachian Trail. She loved to stay home and she loved to travel.

She is survived by her husband, John Schroader; her parents, William B. and Beverly Kirk; her daughter, Erin (Jake) Hardy; a grandson, Hunter Hardy; sisters, Martha (Mike) Gipson and Amy (Lyndon) Shearn; a brother, Buddy (Katie) Kirk; and several nieces and nephews. She also loved as family Lenore and Remco Schreuders and their daughters, Mariana and Alida.

Services are 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery in Philpot, KY. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday and after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
