Otis U. (Bud) Haire, 77, of Reed

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Otis U. (Bud) Haire, 77, of Reed, passed away on April 6, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Henderson County to the late William and Margaret Haire.

Bud retired in 1998 after working as an oil field driller for many years. He had also done some farming. Bud was of the Baptist faith.

He was a big sports fan, especially U.K. Basketball. He also followed NASCAR and thoroughly enjoyed auctions. Most of all, Bud loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Freda B. Haire, whom he married on January 6, 1956; a daughter, Donna Berry of Owensboro; a son, Homer Haire (Tracy) of Reed; grandchildren, Brandy Reed (Corey) of Henderson, Buddy Haire of Reed, Zachary Berry and Travis Berry, both of Owensboro; great grandchildren, Ally Grace Reed and Carrie Marie Crowley, both of Henderson; sisters, Carol Proctor of Henderson, Myrna Thomasson (Wendell) of St. Louis, MO, Martha Brown (Harold) of Reed, Kathy Morris (Roger) of Henderson; brothers, Rev. J.W. Haire (Doris) of Bremen, KY, Gene Haire (Goldie) of Henderson, Roy Haire (Jan) of Reed, Charles Haire (Sheila) of Calhoun; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and an uncle, James Beals of Reed.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Jerry Francis will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion General Baptist Church Cemetery in Reed. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 PM and on Tuesday after Noon at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
