Anna Marie (Aunt Ann) Newby, 87, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Anna Marie (Aunt Ann) Newby, 87, of Owensboro, KY passed away on April 9, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Ann was born in McQuady, KY on April 25, 1925 to the late Carl and Frances Newby. Ann is preceded in death by her siblings Helen Sherron, Dorothy Woodward, and Joe Newby, as well as her nephew, Ronald Wayne Woodward, niece, Joyce Newby, nephew, Joe Newby, Jr. and great niece, Bridget Jo Newby.

Ann moved to Owensboro to work at General Electric in 1948, where she retired after 41 years. Ann was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Ann enjoyed bunco, card and board games, quilting and especially spending time with family. She also loved to travel. She was affectionately known as ''Aunt Ann'' even to those to whom she was not related. She was a past Treasurer and State Regent of the Daughters of Isabella.

Ann is survived by her twin sisters, Norma (Bob) Bivins of Owensboro and Lois Bowlds of McQuady. The loves of her life were her nieces and nephews. She was blessed with 20 nieces and nephews, 52 great nieces and nephews and 28 great-great nieces and nephews, and they were greatly blessed for having her in their lives as well. Her nieces and nephews are Brenda Ralph, Danny Sherron, Judy Sherron, Frankie Sherron, Debbie Perry, Kenneth Woodward, Donna Dorth, Barbara O’Nan, Diana Jenkins, Susan Driskell, Tony Newby, Linda Piper, Steve Newby, Roger Bowlds, Darrell Bivins, Gary Bivins, Paula Leet, Charlotte Thompson, Rick Bivins, and Connie Russelburg.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 12th from 2-8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Saturday, April 13th at the Carmel Home at 10:00 a.m. The funeral mass will be at the Carmel Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery

Expressions of sympathy may be taken in the form of donations to the Carmel Home Building Fund, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.
