OWENSBORO, Ky. - Norma J. Hayden Tipton, 74, passed away on April 9, 2013, with loved ones by her side. She is at peace after an incredible battle with cancer. She was an inspiration, a comfort and a blessing in her many roles during her life. She was born June 6, 1938 in London, England to the late Joseph D. and Nancy Goldsmith Hayden. She was employed with OMHS as a Chaplain and was a hospital volunteer. She was a member of The Immaculate Catholic Church. Mrs. Tipton enjoyed gardening and knitting and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Derry Hayden, niece, Maria Nichols, great-niece, Hayley Nichols, stepdaughter, Rhonda Tipton, stepson, Joseph Tipton and granddaughter, Devon Kemplin.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Wayne Tipton, Jr., children;, Theresa (Mark) Bigler, Marie Dowell, Charles (Joni) Vella, stepchildren; Terri (Randy) Kemplin, Paula (Greg) Sparks, Kim (Phillip) Spencer, Karla Tipton Miller, Krista (Billie) Stites, grandchildren; Jospeh, Caitlin, Liza, John, Katy, Elizabeth, Maggie, Michael, Matthew, Brandon, Evan, Jordan, Sarah, Jessica, Felicia, Blake, great-grandchildren; Ezra, Eli, Evangeline, Nicholas, Riley, Sophia, siblings; Michael (Ann) Hayden, Sheila (Jay) Clements, Chris (Sue) Poupart and Anita Orford.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at The Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones officiating. There will be a private burial. Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Prayers will be Friday at 6:00 p.m.
