Jeffery Lynn Ashworth, 57 of Philpot, KY

PHILPOT, Ky. - Jeffery Lynn Ashworth, 57 of Philpot, KY passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1956 in Hancock Co., KY. Jeff has worked for the City of Owensboro since 1984 having been their Revenue Enforcement Officer before retiring and then assumed the position of the city’s Alcohol Beverage Control Officer and Auditor which he still held. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and was a graduate of Western Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. Jeff was an avid golfer, a lifelong fan of U. K. sports, and of Owensboro Catholic High School athletics. He coached his children, Eric and Haleigh, in their individual sporting events as they grew up. He was a big supporter of the OCHS softball team in which Haleigh played for a number of years. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Theresa Bender Ashworth, his daughter, Haleigh Ashworth of Owensboro, his son, Eric Ashworth of Indianapolis, IN, parents, Ralph and Martha Shadwick Ashworth of Owensboro, a sister, Cheryl King and husband Ted of Owensboro, and two brothers, Anthony Ashworth and wife Jill of Henderson and Ken Ashworth and wife Vicki of Philpot.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, April 14 at St. Williams Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 11:00 A.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
