HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (4/15/13) – Hardship applications for request of change in school assignments are now available at the Christian County Board of Education.
According to the new School Attendance Zone Procedures policy, adopted on March 14, 2013 by the Christian County Board of Education, parents/guardians have the option to request their student to attend school outside of their attendance zone based on a hardship.
A hardship is defined as documented economic or medical factors that are beyond the student’s and parent/guardian’s control which have a negative impact on the student’s education process, safety, mental health or physical well-being.
Students applying for a hardship and/or students currently on hardship will need to complete the new hardship application for school assignment. Current students attending on hardship will need to submit a prior approval letter, along with the completed application. This does not include students in grades 6-11, who are on School of Choice and have been grandfathered in, as stated in policy 09.11.AP.1.
Applications and documentation of hardship must be submitted to the Board of Education by April 30. Applications are available at the Christian Co. Board of Education and can be printed from the CCPS website, www.christian.kyschools.us.
Applications will be processed based on board policy 09.11 AP.1. Applications received by April 30, 2013 will be reviewed by the Reassignment Committee by May 31, 2013. The final status of reassignment will then be forwarded to parents/guardians.
