J. B. Coomes, 92, of the St. Lawrence Community

OWENSBORO, Ky. - J. B. Coomes, 92, of the St. Lawrence Community, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Wellington Parc. He was born on May 18, 1920 in Daviess Co. to the late Joseph I. and Clara O’Bryan Coomes. He was retired from Glenmore Distillery and farming, which he loved very much. J. B. was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed raising a garden every year and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Josetta Coomes on August 10, 2001, a daughter, Therese Roby on January 19, 2007, and two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are four sons, Tommy Coomes of Owensboro, Bobby Coomes and wife Connie of Lewisport, Bill Coomes and wife Kaye of Owensboro, and David Coomes of Rockport, IN, four daughters, Sister Marie Coomes of Maple Mount, Mildred Casebier of Louisville, Lois Duke of Owensboro, and Margaret Jackson and husband Larry of Owensboro, 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 16, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church or to the Church Cemetery Fund, 9515 State Route 144, Philpot, KY 42366. Online condolences may be placed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
