He was born November 13, 1923 to the late Roy and Florence Mills Thomas. Frank was a lifelong farmer and an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing cards, especially pedro, with family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father and loved his large extended family and many friends and neighbors in the St. Joe community.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Louise Thomas and Kathleen Phillips; and his brother, William Thomas.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Mary Bernice Alvey Thomas; eight children, Monica (Dennis) Connelly, Charlotte (Tony) Powers, Brent (Rhonda) Thomas, Kelly (Sheryl) Thomas, Beverly (Danny) Ross, Lee Ann (Steve) Blandford, Philip (Barbara) Thomas and Tony (Kim) Thomas; twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Frank is also survived by four sisters, Evelyn Mattingly, Margaret Bickett, Martina Blandford and Sue Thomas; all of Owensboro; three brothers, Jim Thomas of Henderson and Bob Thomas and Raymond Thomas of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass celebrating Frank’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Joseph, with Father Ray Goetz and Father Richard Powers officiating and burial to follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Visitation will from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday.at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Joseph, KY. Prayers said Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
